What is a Design Consultation, what is involved, and why do you charge a fee?

Our design consultations take approximately 1 to 1 1/2 hours in which time we meet with the property owners. During this time some of the things we will discuss are:

  • your needs & desires in landscaping & a water feature
  • budget for project
  • location & type of water feature
  • answer any questions and/or concerns you have regarding water features & our company
  • additional landscape ideas
  • designing of your water feature
  • work dates available
  • and in most cases provide you with a firm price on your water feature.

It is important that all parties involved in the decision making process be available during our consultation.

Our fee for our design consultation is $125.00 and is donated directly to charitable foundations that we work with. In exchange for our fee we have different water feature care packages that the client is provided with upon the completion of their project. I truly believe this is a Win – Win for everyone involved. For a general idea of styles & costs of our basic water features please view our online pricing guide.

Environmental Responsibility in Students

PRESS RELEASE

PREMIUM AQUASCAPE’S S.E.E.D. PROGRAM CULTIVATES ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY IN STUDENTS

Paramus Students Receive Hands On Education During Premium Aquascape’s Pond Build

Paramus, NJ. November 2008 – Students at the Ridge Ranch School in Paramus have a new outdoor classroom; a beautiful water garden installed by Premium Aquascapes of New Milford, New Jersey. The 10′ x 14′ pond was installed under the company’s recently implemented S.E.E.D. program.  The Schoolyard Environmental Education Development program teaches children about the vital role of our eco-system and provides an opportunity for students to gain a unique, “hands on” education that they are sure to not forget.  Ridge Ranch School students worked side-by-side helping to build the water garden and waterfall.  With each stone placed, and every flower planted, the children learned about the individual parts that each would play in this new ecosystem that they were helping to construct.  The water garden installation was a necessary part of Ridge Ranch School’s wild life habitat certification and was provided to the school at no cost in part through a grant received from the Premium Aquascapes S.E.E.D. program.

RAINWATER HARVESTING: COMING TO A HOME NEAR YOU

Premium Aquascapes Installs The First Rainwater Harvesting System In Bergen County

New Milford, NJ. June 2008 –

This isn’t your parent’s way of capturing rain in a barrel and hoping not to get mosquitoes in it! The Aquascapes’ Rainwater Harvesting System, Bergen County’s first of its kind, combines the aesthetic beauty of a ‘Pondless’ waterfall with the environmental benefits of a traditional Water Harvesting System. Developed by Aquascape Inc. of St. Charles, Illinois and installed by Premium Aquascapes of New Milford, New Jersey, the Rainwater Harvesting System is a self-sustaining natural environment that captures, filters and reuses rainwater.  The innovative system collects the rainwater runoff from the roof and carries it into the ‘Pondless’ waterfall feature, reducing the amount of water and pollutants entering the overburdened storm system.  The excess water is then diverted into a rain garden where wetlands plants naturally detoxify the water of chemicals and heavy metals.  The Rain Water Harvesting System provides a sustainable method for watering your garden or lawn, a clean water source for wildlife and the additional beauty and serenity of the sounds of water as it cascades down the waterfall and into the stream.

Rain Water Harvesting in Nutley, NJ

The client was unhappy with the existing small water feature since he had to constantly keep filling it up so that it would run.

Upon meeting with the client we designed and installed this system that is tied into the roof downspouts located in the landscaped area. The basin is designed to capture and hold approximately 500 gallons of water thereby eliminating the need for the client to fill the feature with water.

Photos from the finished rain water harvesting project are below.  This feature is located at 363 Centre Street – Nutley, NJ and includes underwater night lighting as well enhancing the viewing of the feature at night.

So what would you envision here?

Rainwater Harvesting Before Photo

Well I saw a way to save water. This is a Pondless waterfall using the Rain Water Harvesting system that Aquascape, Inc. is working on.

The concept is so simple that it’s brilliant. (Yeah, I know, the concept of collecting rain water has been around forever but not like this).  Collection of rain water through my downspouts diverted to the oversized Pondless basin.

I added a twist on the driveway area by taking that downspout and running it into a garden area that has been dug & loosened to a depth of 3′ with plenty of Peat Moss added. As the diverted water fills this area the plants get a nice drink of water and, as that area overflows, it goes into another garden. See less water use already – but wait it gets better!

I can use a ‘booster pump’ drop a hose into my basin and water my plants or wash my car! How cool is that? Less water going into the storm drains, less drinking water used for less important things, less pollution from runoff of lawn treatments, less money to the water company.

Ever try to listen to the relaxing sounds of a rain barrel??  :)
