PREMIUM AQUASCAPE’S S.E.E.D. PROGRAM CULTIVATES ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY IN STUDENTS
Paramus Students Receive Hands On Education During Premium Aquascape’s Pond Build
Paramus, NJ. November 2008 – Students at the Ridge Ranch School in Paramus have a new outdoor classroom; a beautiful water garden installed by Premium Aquascapes of New Milford, New Jersey. The 10′ x 14′ pond was installed under the company’s recently implemented S.E.E.D. program. The Schoolyard Environmental Education Development program teaches children about the vital role of our eco-system and provides an opportunity for students to gain a unique, “hands on” education that they are sure to not forget. Ridge Ranch School students worked side-by-side helping to build the water garden and waterfall. With each stone placed, and every flower planted, the children learned about the individual parts that each would play in this new ecosystem that they were helping to construct. The water garden installation was a necessary part of Ridge Ranch School’s wild life habitat certification and was provided to the school at no cost in part through a grant received from the Premium Aquascapes S.E.E.D. program.

The S.E.E.D. program is a valuable tool for New Jersey schools. Whether a school is seeking out new and innovative methods of teaching environmental science, looking to create an environmentally friendly and calming atmosphere for the children or gaining a wild life certification, the S.E.E.D. program provides all the necessary instruments to turn these goals into reality. The Schoolyard Environmental Education Development program is the brainchild of Pieter van Westervelt of Premium Aquascapes, who believes that the best way to protect the environment is to educate the children who will be inheriting it. Pieter’s passion for nature and the environment is contagious, as evident by the student’s reactions during the Ridge Ranch School pond build. His philanthropy is only exceeded by his hopes for an environmentally responsible future. Premium Aquascapes installed the first Rain Water Harvesting System in Bergen County, providing a sustainable method for capturing, filtering and reusing rainwater. The S.E.E.D. program is another step in what Premium Aquascape’s hopes to be an environmentally responsible future for New Jersey.
